Lineup news and search for a new member
We’re still decompressing from a busy weekend here at Malediction HQ after two amazing shows in Brighton on Saturday and Leeds on Sunday, more on that to come.
The weekend did however bring some sad news as after over three years and eleven shows, Jon Rushforth has decided to vacate the drum stool and leave the band.
Without Jon, the reboot of Malediction would not have been possible, it’s as simple as that. He also played on what we regard as the best recording the band has ever released, 2023’s “The Soil Throne” EP. He helped take the sound and intensity of the band to an entirely new level. He has also been part of some of the biggest and best gigs the band has ever performed. We have nothing but the best wishes for Jon and are sure he’ll continue blasting with Impurist and probably many other bands for years to come!
We are currently looking for a new drummer, any interested parties can contact us via any of our socials or directly via email at info at info@malediction.co.uk We have more gigs to come in 2025 as well as an album, our debut to record!

Summer beckons
Tho you wouldn’t think it looking outside! Well the Incineration and GAD fests are in the rear view mirror. Both went well for the most part, tho of course we feel we can always play better. Some exciting live show news will be forthcoming soon but until then we are working on new songs, hopefully some will be unleased at the upcoming shows. Stay tuned!
Upcoming shows
Sorry for the lack of updates of late – real life etc! Following on from an incredible gig at Nottingham in March with the mighty Blasphemer, Beyond Grace and Dreor (cheers for putting this on Phil Core!) we have 2 major shows lined up next month, one in London and one in Bolton and both times we are number 2 on the bill, for which we are extremely grateful. Both are major festivals that we are humbled to have been invited to. See the flyers below and click for more info! Hope to see some of you guys there – pop over and say ‘Hey!’ 🙂

New band member
We’re very pleased to be able announce that our new bass player is none other than Rik Simpson (Bloodmores, ex Austerymn, ex Monstrance ).

Rich Mumford: “I first met Rik through working with him on Carlo Regadas’ Monstrance project. I also helped his previous band, Austerymn out a couple of times on bass back in 2018 and 2019.
When Mark Fox decided to leave the band, there was only one person on my list to take the bass player spot. Rik is an excellent bass player and also a guitarist, vocalist, producer, engineer and luthier. It’s an absolute dream to be working with him again and he’s brought a whole new dimension to the sound of the band.”
Rik Simpson: “I’m extremely honoured to have been asked by Malediction to join as their bassist.
As a fan of the band since the early 90’s this is a great opportunity for me to play with an outstanding group of musicians…and top blokes too!!
I look forward working with the guys and continuing to develop as a player to ensure their legacy is preserved and the future of such a legendary band remains a bright one.”
